The Japanese Language Department is designed to provide people from different cultural backgrounds with opportunities to learn the Japanese language in order that they may be directly exposed to the “voice of the Parent” through studying the Scriptures in the original language and thereby gain deeper understanding of the teachings.
More specifically, the department seeks to train and educate students from overseas so that they will be able to:
(1) study and implement the basic teachings;
(2) take care of overseas followers by using their Japanese language skills; and
(3) serve as active members in such places as mission headquarters, mission centers, or churches in their respective regions and countries when they go back home.
In order to accomplish these goals, students of this department will work on and develop the four skills of the Japanese language—namely, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills—as well as study the basic teachings and practice the dance and musical instruments for the service.
